Many interesting natural phenomena in the world are mentioned in the Qur’an. Have you ever heard of or visited these places? Here are some of them:
1. Fire at the bottom of the sea
“And the sea in whose land there is fire.” (Surat At-Tur: 6)
Natural phenomena mentioned in the Koran were discovered by a geologist from Russia Anatol Sbagovich and Yuri Bagdanov a scientist from the US, discovered the phenomenon of fire on the seabed. When they were examining the Earth’s crust and its faults on the seabed off the coast of Miami, these researchers found molten lava flowing along with volcanic ash whose temperature reached 231 degrees Celsius.
2. The meeting of two seas whose waters do not mix
You can find this phenomenon at the confluence of seawater from the Atlantic Ocean and from the Mediterranean Sea. Science says this happens because of differences in characteristics seen from water temperature, salt content and density. It occurs in the Strait of Gibraltar which connects the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.
The phenomenon of the meeting of these two seas has been explained in the Qur’an 14 centuries ago in Surah Ar-Rahman verses 19-20. It is explained that there are two seas that meet each other but between them have boundaries.
“He let two seas flow which both of them then meet. Between them there is a boundary that neither of them crosses.” (Surah Ar-Rahman: 19-20)
3. Rainbow Mountain in China

Rainbow Mountain is in the Zhangye-Danxia Geological Park National Park area. The nearest city is Zhangye which is part of the Gansu Province, China.
Named Mount Pelangi because this mountain has colors that are like a rainbow. There are red, orange, white, to blue, similar to the color spectrum of the rainbow.
This Rainbow Mountain is indeed mentioned in the Qur’an, precisely in Surah Al Fathir verse 27. In the letter, it is stated that Allah created mountains between which there are white and red stripes of various colors, and some are pitch black. .
“Do you not see that Allah sends down rain from the sky and We produce with it fruits of various kinds. And between the mountains there are white and red stripes of various colors and there are (also) black ones. .” (Surat al-Fathir :27)
4. The orbit of the solar system
The solar system is part of a very large universe. The earth that we walk on is only one of the planets in the solar system. Apart from the Sun, all the planets and satellites in the Sun’s gravitational system move in a predetermined orbit.
This is explained in the Qur’an surah Al-Anbiya verse 33.
“And it is He Who created the night and the day, the sun and the moon. Each of them revolves in its orbit.” (Surat al-Anbiya: 33)
5. Formation of rain water
We were explained at school how it rained, right? But long before researchers knew how the rain occurred, the Qur’an had explained it in Surah Ar-Rum verses 48-49.
Allah, it is He who sends the wind, and the wind stirs up the clouds and Allah spreads them in the sky as He wills, and makes them lumpy, and you see rain pouring out of their crevices, then when it rains it hits the servants of God. He willed, they suddenly rejoiced. And verily, before the rain fell on them, they really had despaired.” (Surah Ar-Rum verses 48-49)
6. The Big Bang
“And do the disbelievers not know that the heavens and the Earth were one unit, then We separated the two. And We made all living things out of water. So why don’t they also believe?” (Surat al-Anbiya: 30)
The above verse relates to the events of the formation of the universe. We know this theory as the Big Bang where the study is based on cosmological studies of the early form and development of the universe.
According to this theory, the universe was originally very hot and dense, and has been expanding continuously until now. This incident is stated in the Qur’an Surah Al-Anbiya verse 30.
