Haunted Hotel in Bedugul, Village Head: If Operation Could Absorb Manpower

Tabanan

The Puncak Indah Bedugul Hotel in Batunya Village, Baturiti District, Tabanan Regency, Bali has attracted public attention. The local village head wished that such a large hotel could operate.

Apparently, the hotel on a 5.3 hectare land has been empty for a long time. The hotel and restaurant on the side of the Denpasar-Singaraja road has been dormant for decades.

Not only the local residents’ attention, the hotel was even highlighted by foreign media, the Daily Star. The UK-based media called it the Taman Recreation Hotel & Resort hotel. The photos on Getty Images are also referred to by the same name.

The village head or Perbekel Batunya, I Made Riasa, did not deny the existence of horror stories or myths in the hotel.

“The matter of myth is believing or not believing. Stories (horror) that develop in society are like that,” said Made Riasa, Wednesday (29/6/2022).

As Riasa recalls, the process of building the hotel, which is now named Hotel Puncak Indah Bedugul or the Hotel & Resort Recreation Park, started in the early 1990s. During that time, there were many horror myths that developed in the community regarding the existence of the stalled hotel.

However, he said that local residents had no problem with the luxurious but empty building.

“We are comfortable. In fact, if it operates, it will be even better. It can increase the tourism sector and absorb workers,” he said.

He also couldn’t blame the horror myths that developed on the existence of the hotel, because its condition was not well maintained. Especially in the belief that developed in Bali, a building that has not been occupied for a long time certainly has a bad aura.

Riasa admitted that he had entered the hotel building twice. Inside the hotel he felt an aura of mystical and horror from the buildings or areas around him.

“I’ve been there before. I got goosebumps. Not because of the stories. I got goosebumps when I entered,” he said.

Riasa’s opportunity to enter the hotel occurred in 1999 and when she was still serving as the Head of the Batu Region.

“When I was young. Around 1999. I had time to enter with my friend from Singaraja. It felt like someone was following behind even though it was noon. Sorry, I couldn’t see.
