Arak Bali is now up class. A total of 28 arak artisans signed a partnership with two star hotels, namely the JW Marriott and Kempinski Hotels. This traditional alcoholic drink has also become one of Bali’s superior local products.
Chairperson of the Bali Arak Cooperative Association, Ida Ayu Puspa Eni, said that her party would continue to explore other hotels in Bali to market local wine products.
“This means that the road is already open for Balinese wine. These 28 artisans are from many regencies throughout Bali, including Karangasem, Singajara, and other regencies,” said Dayu Puspa after the meeting in Jayasabha, Denpasar, Wednesday (7/9/2022).
According to him, the Balinese wine which is declared to have been promoted to class also has an excise stamp. Arak distributed to hotels consists of three groups based on the alcohol content, namely class A (under 20 percent), class B (20 percent) and class C (40 percent).
The owner of the IWAK Arumery wine brand admitted that his product would be a souvenir for the G20 delegates. “Yes, we are in talks with the Minister of Tourism Sandiaga Uno,” concluded Ida Ayu
Dayu Puspa said that currently there are around 6,000 arak farmers in Bali. He hopes that more Balinese wine products will be promoted. According to him, this can happen with the support of various parties.

“If you want to go to class, everyone must support him,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, Governor I Wayan Koster emphasized that the existence of Balinese wine has been regulated in Bali Governor Regulation Number 1 of 2020 concerning Governance of Balinese Fermented Drinks and/or Distillation. Koster admitted that he would encourage other Balinese wine products to be promoted.
“We also have a distribution permit and excise tape. I will talk to customs, this is a class-up package,” said Koster.
