RNF Racing confirmed to leave Yamaha next season. The team made by Razlan Razali will team up with Aprilia for the upcoming 2023 season. This left no room for Toprak Razgatlioglu to enter MotoGP.
Quoted from the official World Superbike website, the Pata Yamaha with Brixx WorldSBK racer from Turkey must wait until at least 2024 to switch to MotoGP. This was confirmed by Yamaha Motor Racing boss Lin Jarvis, who is also Head of the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team.
RNF Racing’s switch to Aprilia during 2023 and 2024 means that Yamaha will only have two motorbikes in MotoGP. The two Yamaha motorbikes are only in the factory team. This means that Toprak Razgatlioglu’s chances of joining MotoGP next season have run aground, because the Yamaha factory team will still be strengthened by Fabio Quartararo and Franco Morbidelli.
“Obviously the news of not having this satellite team, however, means we have no place, period, because we will only have two bikes in the factory team,” said Lin Jarvis.
Lin Jarvis spoke about Toprak Razgatlioglu who will test the Yamaha MotoGP motorbike. He said the moment was to show Toprak’s interest in trying a MotoGP motorbike.
“Secondly, it was a bit of a gift from Yamaha for its victory last year (2021 World Superbike Champion) and its continued commitment with Yamaha for the future. So, I think the biggest target for the test remains the same. Relax, test, enjoy and experience MotoGP bike, to experience what it would be like if he chose to move on in the future,” said Lin Jarvis.
Toprak Razgatlioglu will get the chance to test his Yamaha YZR-M1 MotoGP bike in the coming weeks as he continues his WorldSBK title defense.
